2026 EVENT DETAILS COMING SOON! Every year, St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission hosts the annual Trek the Trestle Walk on the Wadhams to Avoca Trail. The trestle walk coincides with the big Labor Day walk that takes place every year on the Mackinac Bridge. As part of the event, participants cross the 640 ft. Mill Creek trestle, the longest bridge of its kind in the State of Michigan. Join us as we walk from the Avoca trailhead, across the trestle (for an exhilarating view!) to the Imlay City trailhead and back (5 miles in total) Parking available at the trailhead, across from the Kenockee Twp. The native plants are grown and provided by East Michigan Native Plants. The 6th Annual St. Clair Rotary Turtle Race will take place on the Pine River at St. Clair Rotary Centennial Park. This is a free, family event that has become a tradition in St. Clair. This year, we expect more than 5,000 rubber turtles to compete in the race - all adopted by folks who bought a raffle ticket to support the fundraiser and help provide local community services. WHERE: Gallup Park in Port Austin located just off M-25

FACILITIES: Please come dressed and ready to race. Port-A-Johns are available at the park.

COURSE: The scenic 8K Run includes both village and rural roads, about 50/50 paved and gravel. The 2 Mile Run and Walk is all paved village streets. Water stations provided. Refreshments will be provided at the pavilion after the race.

*The 2 Mile Run and Walk will start at 8:30 a.m. with the 8K Run starting a couple of minutes after.

**The 8K Run will start in the opposite direction as the 2 Mile races.

*If you sign up for the 2 Mile walk you MUST** walk the whole course from start to finish.

Our intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises and deceit as 5 actors portray more than 40 characters. Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Betty has referred Olive to Gus and Tor, a partnership in the whacking business. What Tor doesn’t know is that Gus has been sleeping with the clients. Two of the most catastrophic wildfires in American history struck Michigan's Thumb just ten years apart — and if you live in this region, this is your history.

In 1871, the same weather system that fueled the Great Chicago Fire swept across the Thumb, killing hundreds and displacing thousands in a matter of hours. Ten years later, before the region had fully recovered, the fires came again. The 1881 Thumb Fire was even more devastating — burning over a million acres and leaving an entire region in ash.

Professional historian Andrew Kercher holds a Master's in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University and spent nearly a decade working in Michigan's museum world. He is one of Michigan's most engaging public history speakers, known for bringing depth, detail, and genuine storytelling to events across the state.

This lecture is part of the Ron & Ann Erickson 2026 Lecture Series. An opening mini-concert by Ourselves begins at 5:00 PM, with the lecture starting at 5:30 PM.

The Great Lakes hold more shipwrecks than anywhere else on earth. And nobody brings those stories to life quite like Ric Mixter.
Mixter is a documentary filmmaker, author, diver, and one of the most requested maritime historians in the Midwest. He has produced over 30 programs for PBS, appeared as a shipwreck expert on the History and Discovery Channels, and dived more than 100 Great Lakes wrecks — including a submersible descent 550 feet down to the Edmund Fitzgerald itself. He has personally interviewed survivors of the 1913 Storm, the 1940 Armistice Day Storm, and some of the largest shipwrecks in the history of Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Erie. His YouTube channel has surpassed five million views. He is a board member of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society and a past president of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association.

This is standing-room-only material. The evening opens at 2:00 PM with a musical program by Jack Broadwell, followed by Ric Mixter's presentation.

You might be surprised how many people in Michigan's Thumb have a Bigfoot story.

Bryan Sawyer has heard them — and he has gone looking for the answers. A Michigan-based actor, producer, and podcaster with film credits including the Steven Soderbergh thriller No Sudden Move, Sawyer is the creator and executive producer of the Bigfoots of Michigan TV and web series and host of The Bigfoots of America Podcast Show. He travels across North America interviewing eyewitnesses, investigating reported sighting locations, and documenting the regional folklore that surrounds one of America's most enduring mysteries. He also serves as an investigator with the North Carolina Investigators on Channel 12 TV Network.

This is not a ghost story campfire session. It is a serious look at the eyewitness accounts, the regional patterns, and the culture of belief that has kept this legend alive for generations — told by someone who has dedicated years to chasing it down.

The Detroit-style coney dog is more than a meal. It is a civic identity, a family legacy, and a Michigan tradition unlike anything else in American food culture. And nobody tells that story better than Joe Grimm.

Grimm spent 31 years in journalism — 25 of them at the Detroit Free Press — before becoming a journalism professor at Michigan State University and co-authoring Coney Detroit with Katherine Yung, published by Wayne State University Press. With more than 20 books on Michigan culture and history to his name, Grimm knows how to make a story come alive.

This presentation is interactive and audience-driven, packed with photography, artwork, and video. You will learn what actually goes into a proper Detroit-style coney, why Detroit became the undisputed capital of coney culture, what makes a Flint coney different, the story of the Greek families who built a culinary empire, and the finer points of coney dining etiquette. Come join us for your Summer Pottery flex class experience! All classes are Á la Carte no experience needed!

We know Summer is a busy time, so, during the summer months, we are offering classes that can be purchased individually. Register for classes, ahead of time or on the fly! ***There’s a 3 hour cut off to register for each class to ensure we are totally prepared for the number of students each day.

You choose the days that work for you And your schedule!

Our team of expert ceramic art instructors will build your experience around your interests. Whether it is learning to throw clay on the potters wheel, hand building mugs and dishes, making garden sculptures, decorating tiles, building bird houses, creating creatures or any number of projects you can dream of.

It’s all waiting for you this summer at Foundry!!

Beginner and returning students are welcome. Instructors will start beginner students either on the wheel or slab roller. Returning students may work on their own projects or participate in instructor led class.

These classes are designed for people 16years old and over. All skill levels welcome, no experience needed. All materials included.

Seats are limited can fill up fast so it’s recommended to sign up as far ahead as possible.

** our Summer classes Are replacing The regular five week classes for June through August. These classes aren't intended for a one time fun time Class substitute. Students are in charge of finishing/glazing their own pieces.

In this Just for Fun Wheel Throwing Pottery Class, kids ages 7–12 will get hands-on experience at the pottery wheel in a playful, low-pressure environment. This one-hour class is all about trying something new, getting a little messy, and having a great time while learning the basics of shaping clay on the wheel.

Our instructors will guide kids step-by-step through centering clay, pulling up walls, and creating their very own pottery pieces—no experience needed! Every child will have their own wheel and plenty of encouragement to explore and experiment.

Families or teams will choose activities to try while moving at their own pace on Saturday, June 27 from 5-8 p.m. In addition to classic field day challenges, activities will include use of the Wiffleball field, challenge course, basketball and pickleball courts.

The Robinson is named after a local tennis player, Lt. Francis J. Robinson, a young serviceman who died in a military flight training mission in July 1958. A group of Lt. Robinson’s friends started a small tennis tournament in his honor that same summer. The “Robinson” has drawn between 200-400 participants annually, with players 10 & under to 70 & over and is considered one of the longest running community tennis tournaments in the United States. Sanborn Pool is going to the dogs on Aug. 15. Celebrate the dog days of summer and the final day at the pool for 2026.

All dogs should be dog (and people) friendly. Canines must be spayed or neutered, have a rabies vaccine and we strongly suggest Distemper/Parvo and a Bordetella vaccines. Owners need to have written proof of the vaccinations on the day of event. Dog tags do not count. Dogs will not be permitted in the pool without verification of this information. Swimming with dogs is not permitted. Participants may bring more than one dog, but we do require a minimum 1:2 ratio of one person for every two dogs.
