    Jason Hundey is back at the Sanilac County Museum, and if you missed him before, this is your chance.
    Hundey brings a perspective on rock and roll history that few people can match. A history teacher with nearly two decades in the classroom at Armada Area Schools and a humanities and pop culture instructor at Ferris State University, he has spent his career helping people understand how music shapes society, culture, and politics — not just entertainment, but history in real time.
    He has also spent the better part of two decades as co-host of the Requiem Metal Podcast, one of the most respected deep-dive music podcasts in the heavy metal world, with over 300 episodes and coverage from Decibel Magazine. He has led more than two dozen world tour trips through EF Education Tours, bringing historical and cultural context to audiences across the globe.
    This installment of his ongoing Rock & Roll History series continues where previous lectures left off — an engaging, wide-ranging journey through the music that changed the world. Hundey is known for going where the audience takes him, so every lecture is a little different.

    Two of the most catastrophic wildfires in American history struck Michigan's Thumb just ten years apart — and if you live in this region, this is your history.
    In 1871, the same weather system that fueled the Great Chicago Fire swept across the Thumb, killing hundreds and displacing thousands in a matter of hours. Ten years later, before the region had fully recovered, the fires came again. The 1881 Thumb Fire was even more devastating — burning over a million acres and leaving an entire region in ash.
    Professional historian Andrew Kercher holds a Master's in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University and spent nearly a decade working in Michigan's museum world. He is one of Michigan's most engaging public history speakers, known for bringing depth, detail, and genuine storytelling to events across the state.
    This lecture is part of the Ron & Ann Erickson 2026 Lecture Series. An opening mini-concert by Ourselves begins at 5:00 PM, with the lecture starting at 5:30 PM.

    The Great Lakes hold more shipwrecks than anywhere else on earth. And nobody brings those stories to life quite like Ric Mixter.
    Mixter is a documentary filmmaker, author, diver, and one of the most requested maritime historians in the Midwest. He has produced over 30 programs for PBS, appeared as a shipwreck expert on the History and Discovery Channels, and dived more than 100 Great Lakes wrecks — including a submersible descent 550 feet down to the Edmund Fitzgerald itself. He has personally interviewed survivors of the 1913 Storm, the 1940 Armistice Day Storm, and some of the largest shipwrecks in the history of Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Erie. His YouTube channel has surpassed five million views. He is a board member of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society and a past president of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association.
    This is standing-room-only material. The evening opens at 2:00 PM with a musical program by Jack Broadwell, followed by Ric Mixter's presentation.

    You might be surprised how many people in Michigan's Thumb have a Bigfoot story.
    Bryan Sawyer has heard them — and he has gone looking for the answers. A Michigan-based actor, producer, and podcaster with film credits including the Steven Soderbergh thriller No Sudden Move, Sawyer is the creator and executive producer of the Bigfoots of Michigan TV and web series and host of The Bigfoots of America Podcast Show. He travels across North America interviewing eyewitnesses, investigating reported sighting locations, and documenting the regional folklore that surrounds one of America's most enduring mysteries. He also serves as an investigator with the North Carolina Investigators on Channel 12 TV Network.
    This is not a ghost story campfire session. It is a serious look at the eyewitness accounts, the regional patterns, and the culture of belief that has kept this legend alive for generations — told by someone who has dedicated years to chasing it down.
